Who is Raunak Sadhwani?
Raunak Sadhwani is an Indian chess grandmaster who hails from Nagpur, India and was born on 22 December 2005. The 17-year-old is the chess prodigy who, at the age of 13, achieved grandmaster status. He is a Centre Point School, Katol Road, student.
The Maharashtrian holds the record as the ninth-youngest player in history and the fourth-youngest Indian to win the title. In 2015, Raunak won the U-10 Commonwealth Championship in New Delhi, India.
Raunak began playing chess at the age of seven and a half, therefore his confidence increased. He won his first state trophy in 2014 when he was just nine years old. He grabbed the International Master (IM) title in May 2018. He is also Nagpur’s first and Maharashtra’s youngest chess Grand Master.
