Another young player is moving waves in the chess world. This time, it’s a five-year-old little girl named Jiaana Garg who has left her mark on the history of chess.

She achieved the incredible feat of joining the World Chess Federation (FIDE) on a global scale. The little girl is now the only female player in the world who, at this young age, has received a FIDE rating.

Jiaana Garg is a rising young chess player who is just five years old but has already inscribed her name in the history books.

She is a student of the Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh and was born in 2018. 

Jiaana had only begun taking chess lessons at the age of 4.5, but even so, her coach, Naveen Bansal, the vice president of the Chandigarh Chess Association, observed an astounding growth in her play.

As per the youngster’s mentor, in her 15-year long career, Jiaana has been the youngest player she has trained so far. 

Although she earlier refused to train her as they don’t take children less than five years at her training centre. 

However, following a video which she received by the chess rising star’s mother, she was convinced she can be focused and is a disciplined child, as per reports.

And it worked as she was promoted to advanced batch just few months after she had joined, following her incredible skills and ability to learn fast. 

Inspired by her gold-medal winning sibling, her brother, the little girl joined the Chandigarh Chess Association to receive professional training.

She has spent the last two years competing in various FIDE ratings chess competitions. Her astounding 1558 rating was initially published on the FIDE website on May 1, 2024. 

She started scoring this year against the rated players in order to receive her first rating. In the third Matrix FIDE rating chess competition, she played against eight rated opponents and received 2.5 points (winning two and drawing one).
