Calvin Diakite bio
Calvin Diakite is a young and upcoming teenage football starlet who is making waves at Chelsea. Diakite is currently just 15 years old and mainly plays as a left-sided defender but his height isn’t known. The youngster has established himself as a regular member of the under-18 squad this season despite playing above his age group. The England youth international is also eligible to play for Ivory Coast owing to his parents’ nationality. The names of his parents aren’t known though.

Career
Calvin Diakite developed an interest in football through his father. His father took him to see Premier League matches at Arsenal, Crystal Palace, and Watford after the family relocated to the United Kingdom. Calvin started out playing for Dynamo in Catford. He was a big fan of Yaya Toure and started out playing as a central midfielder.
It was during his time here that Chelsea scout Fiona Armfield spotted Diakite when he was around 10 years old. The youngster eventually chose the Blues over their fierce rivals Tottenham. After joining Chelsea, he soon converted to a defender in their academy. With Diakite in the team, Chelsea have managed to win multiple trophies in the under-16s last season.
Under Enzo Maresca, Calvin has gained a lot of opportunities. Aside from Calvin, Maresca has also given debuts to other youngsters like Tyrique George and Sam Rak-Sakyi this season. 17-year-old Shim Mheuka also recently made the bench during their most recent Conference League match. Mheuka notably made the bench just days after signing his first professional deal.
Playing style
Calvin Diakite has good ability on the ball and is quick and exceptional in one-v-one defending scenarios. Despite being just 15 years old, Diakite plays with the under-18s, well above his age group. The youngster not only plays but thrives with the squad.
