Channel Nine’s Tony Jones shouted “Novak, he’s overrated, Novak’s a has-been, Novak kick him out” towards Djokovic fans while live on air at the Australian Open on Friday and as a result, Djokovic refused to do his usual on-court interview after Sunday’s fourth-round win over Jiri Lehecka because of Channel Nine being official broadcasters of the tournament.

Tony Jones sparks beef with Collins and Djokovic

Danielle recently got heckled during her second-round match against local girl Destanee Aiava, to which she hit back. Tony Jones then went on to call the 31-year-old a “brat” before saying she “overstepped” with her comments. He added:

My view is she’s a brat. When you get people like Danielle Collins who lives this (lavish) lifestyle and then rubs our noses in it…I thought it overstepped the mark.”

Shortly after the incident, Tony Jones made several infamous remarks towards Serbian fans and Novak Djokovic. He stated:

Back to Melbourne Park, where you can see the Novak Djokovic fans there in full voice. The chants are quite extraordinary. Novak, he’s overated! Novak’s a has-been! Novak, kick him out! Boy I’m glad they can’t hear me.”

In response, the Serb refused to give a post-match on-court interview to Channel Nine.

He is currently 63 years old and also goes by the name Chompers. Jones currently works as a sports presenter at Nine News Melbourne on weeknights and hosts the network’s Australian Open coverage. He has been working with Network Nine for over 38 years since 1987 but his salary at the network isn’t known publicly.

The Melbourne based broadcaster for Channel is married to wife Annette with the two also having a pet dog. Tony and his wife Annette live in Melbourne with their son Mitchell and daughter Lauren.
