LeCroy, 24, worked in the school’s football recruiting department. She graduated from UGA and worked as a recruiting analyst for the Georgia football team. LeCroy graduated from Stephens County High School in Toccoa as a leader. She was also a “Double Dawg,” earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Georgia in sports management and policy.

Offensive lineman Warren McClendon and a female passenger were also involved in the collision and are currently in stable condition, according to the school’s athletic department.

Statement from Georgia’s director of intercollegiate athletics

Josh Brooks, Georgia’s director of intercollegiate athletics, made a statement about Chandler LeCroy and Willock and what they meant to the university.

Brooks declared: “The sad deaths of football staff member Chandler LeCroy and student-athlete Devin Willock have left the entire Georgia family inconsolable. The University of Georgia, our football team, and our athletic department were all very grateful for Devin and Chandler, two very unique individuals. We kindly request that everyone remember their families in their prayers at this extremely trying time.”

Following the Bulldogs’ parade and celebration at Sanford Stadium to celebrate their back-to-back national championship victories, an automobile accident happened. At SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Georgia defeated TCU Horned Frogs by a score of 65-7 in the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

What was the cause of the collision that claimed Chandler LeCroy’s life?

At 2:45 a.m. ET, Athens-Clarke County Police received a complaint concerning a single-vehicle collision in the 900 block of Barnett Shoals Road. When it left the pavement, the 2021 Ford Expedition was travelling south in the outside lane. Along with some trees, it struck two power poles.

Willock, the passenger, passed away from his injuries on the spot. LeCroy, the driver, was transported to a local hospital by emergency medical personnel. She later died as a result of her wounds. Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
