Carmen Dell’Orefice works as both a supermodel and an actress. She was born in New York City on June 3, 1932. Her parents were born in Italy and Hungary. From the beginning, her mom and dad had a hard time getting along.
Like any other relationship, there were good and bad times in theirs. Due to the unstable relationship between her parents, Carmen had to live in foster homes or with family when their parents fought.
Carmen started modelling when she was only 13 years old. When she was younger, the wife of photographer Herman Landschoff asked her to model while she was on the bus to ballet class. She was only 13 years old at the time.
1946 was the year Dell’Orefice got her first big contract. At the age of 15, she made a deal with Vogue magazine. In the same year, she shot her first cover for the well-known magazine. She was one of the youngest celebrities to ever be featured in the famous fashion magazine.
In an interview with New You magazine, Carmen talked about her first time in Vogue. She said, “With [photographer] Irving Penn, I brought my first double page in Vogue to life.”

Since the 1940s, Carmen has had a job as a model. So far, Carmen has been in ad campaigns for well-known fashion brands like Sephora, H&M, and Missoni so far. She has also walked the runway for Thierry Mugler, Moschino, Isaac Mizrahi, and a lot of other fashion houses. In the early 1950s, Dell’Orefice got married to Bill Miles. In 1952, the first couple said their vows to each other. Reports say that Bill used Carmen, who was his wife at the time, financially by taking her modelling paychecks. They had a daughter at the same time. They gave their daughter the name Laura Miles. In 1953, they got a divorce soon after that.
Richard Heimann, a photographer, was her second husband. In 1958, they met each other for the first time. Almost six months after they met for the first time in 1959, the two got married.
After getting married for the second time to Richard Heimann, Dell’Orefice decided to stop being a model. Like her first marriage, her second marriage didn’t last long. In 1960, the model and the photographer were no longer together. Even though they were no longer together, the couple stayed close for the next 53 years, until Richard died in 2013.
Richard Kaplan was the supermodel’s third husband. He made his living as an architect. In 1963, Carmen and Kaplan walked down the aisle. The couple were married for a total of eleven years. In 1974, the couple’s split was finalised.
