Carl Westcott is an 85-year-old veteran who is at the center of a heated conflict with Katy Perry over a luxury Montecito property that he sold back in 2020. According to Westcott, he signed the contract while recovering from his back surgery, and he was under heavy medication. He stated how this left him unable to fully understand the details of the agreement. Despite later trying to withdraw, a judge ruled in December 2023 that there was no solid evidence of his lacking the mental capacity to consent. In response, Perry’s team argued that he even had a backup offer from Maria Shriver. Meanwhile, Perry has countersued for millions in alleged rental losses, repairs, and legal fees.

The Montecito home is spread over some 2.5 acres of land, and features eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms in the main house, as well as a three-bedroom guest house.
