According to Westcott, he signed the contract while recovering from his back surgery, and he was under heavy medication. He stated how this left him unable to fully understand the details of the agreement. Despite later trying to withdraw, a judge ruled in December 2023 that there was no solid evidence of his lacking the mental capacity to consent. In response, Perry’s team argued that he even had a backup offer from Maria Shriver. Meanwhile, Perry has countersued for millions in alleged rental losses, repairs, and legal fees.
The Montecito home is spread over some 2.5 acres of land, and features eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms in the main house, as well as a three-bedroom guest house.

He is widely known as a businessman and a former serviceman who later went on to found multiple companies. Over the years, Carl has earned a reputation for his discipline, resilience, and strong work ethic. Carl Westcott comes from a close-knit family that has seemingly stayed with him throughout the dispute. His son, Court Westcott, publicly expressed how the case has drained his father both emotionally and physically. At present, he is battling severe health issues, including Huntington’s disease.
His legal team said he was suffering from a degenerative brain disease and showing signs of dementia, as well as symptoms of post-operative delirium in addition to taking strong painkillers due to back surgery.
He is father-in-law of Real Housewives of Dallas cast member Kameron Westcott.
