It could have been a major accident when a SpiceJet flight from Patna to Delhi caught fire mid-flight, but Captain Monica Khanna kept her cool and skillfully landed the plane, saving many lives while doing this.

After one of the engines caught fire shortly after take-off from Patna, the Delhi-bound aeroplane with 185 passengers made an emergency landing at Patna airport.
Captain Monica Khanna, the pilot in command, shut off the damaged engine and landed safely at Patna airport, with all passengers and crew members uninjured.
Spicejet’s chief of flight operations, Gurcharan Arora, praised the pilot for her prompt actions, saying,
“Captain Monika Khanna and first officer Balpreet Singh Bhatia conducted themselves well during the incident. They were calm throughout and handled the aircraft well. They are experienced officers and we’re proud of them.”
