Hailing from Warrington, Cheshire, Littler had previously eliminated the five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld in a stunning display.
Now standing just two victories away from etching his name in history at Alexandra Palace, fondly known as ‘The Nuke,’ Littler received words of support from his sister Caitlin, who expressed her pride on Instagram.
Her story read, “The dream continues. Unbelievably proud of you,” accompanied by a heart emoji.
Earlier in the competition, Littler had shared the same succinct message, “the dream continues,” with his mother Lisa after triumphing over Matt Campbell in the third round.
The emotional exchange with his mother marked a turning point, propelling him forward with unwavering determination.
Earnings
Following his decisive win against Dolan, Littler’s tournament earnings reached £100,000, a significant achievement for the 16-year-old who, just days prior, had been photographed opening Christmas presents beneath his tree.
Despite his youth, Littler sees himself as a genuine contender for the prestigious Sid Waddell Trophy, confidently expressing his aspirations on stage.
Reflecting on his performance, he shared with the media, “I’m in the semi-final on my debut. I’m glad to get here, I’ve earned it. My performances have been well, and I just threw in another ton-plus average, and my doubles are on 47%, so it’s gone well today as well.”
When questioned about his chances of becoming the world champion this year, Littler exuded optimism, stating, “If I keep it up, I’ve got a good chance. Now I am dreaming. I’m two games away. I’m definitely thinking about lifting the title.”
However, Littler faces a formidable challenge in the upcoming match against 2018 champion Rob Cross, who himself orchestrated a miraculous comeback from a 4-0 deficit to secure a stunning victory against former Masters champion Chris Dobey on Monday.
