Caden Tellier passes away
Teenage high school student Caden Tellier recently passed away after suffering an injury to the head. The incident took place during John T. Morgan Academy’s season opening game against visiting Southern Academy in Selma, on Friday. During the game, Tellier passed and then rushed for a touchdown when he got hurt, following which he was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Medical officials eventually flew him out to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries the following day on Saturday, August 24.

Caden Tellier was a 16-year-old high school student from Alabama, USA. He attended the Morgan Academy, and he was part of the high school football team, playing as a quarterback. He was also a part of the school’s baseball team. Caden tragically passed away following an injury during his high school football team’s season opening game on August 23, 2024. Caden leaves behind his parents Jamie Tellier and Arcella Tellier, and his 12-year-old younger sister Lila.
Cause of death
Caden Tellier passed away after suffering a fatal brain injury during a football game on Friday, August 23, 2024. Tellier reportedly got injured while making a tackle during the 3rd quarter of Morgan Academy’s opening game against Southern Academy. As of now, the exact nature of Tellier’s fatal injury remains unclear. According to a statement by Alabama Independent School Association executive director Michael McLendon:
Kaden likely suffered a ruptured blood vessel in his brain following a routine play.”
He further added the crowd watching the game “likely did not witness anything unusual in the play” which caused his head injury.
Tributes and condolence messages
Following his Caden Tellier’s tragic death the headmaster for Morgan Academy issued a statement, saying:
There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family. We will come together and support Jamie, Arsella, and Lyla with our whole hearts. We offer our deepest sympathy to the Tellier’s extended family as well.”
Tellier’s parents also issued a statement saying:
Our boy, Caden Tellier has met Jesus face to face. Everyone who knows Caden has known kindness, generosity and love, and true to his nature, he is giving of himself one more time. Lives have been touched by the way he lived and now lives will be saved through his passing.”
Morgan Academy have suspended all school activities due to Tellier’s untimely death, for this week. Moreover, a GoFundMe page has been set up in order to raise money for Tellier’s expenses. As of now, it has raised over a $100,000.
