Sidney Southerland, who is currently tied to the court under a child custody dispute, accused Cynthia of messaging her through a TikTok post.
Following the incident, X users have reposted the video, which has garnered some attention and lead to an investigation.

Cynthia Lopez is a 47-year-old judge from New York currently assigned to the Bronx County Family Court. Prior to her professional career, Cynthia attended the St. John’s University, where he obtained an undergraduate and a law degree.

After obtaining hr law degree, Cynthia started out her legal career with New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) Division of Family Court Legal Services (FCLS). She started out her work there in 2001, as a staff attorney in the Queens FCLS office. According to the Latino Judges Association, Cynthia Lopez got appointed as a judge in the NYC Civil Court in 2021. That same year, in June 14, Cynthia was assigned to the Bronx County Family Court. The 47-year-old later got reappointed in 2022 and has since overseen child protection cases.
Cynthia Lopez messages Sidney Southerland on the swingers’ app
Just last week, Sidney Southerland claimed in her now-viral TikTok video that Judge Cynthia Lopez messaged her on 3Fun. 3Fun is an app where couples look to have fun with other couples. According to reports, Sidney, goes under the name Chyna on the app used her real photo on the platform. She went on to share a screenshot of Cynthia’s text in the video which read:
Gm Chyna, Am Cynthia. How are you?”
According to the screenshot in the video, Sidney received the text on January 24 at 8 a.m. Sidney later responded, saying, “B*tch, you know who the f*ck I am,” following which Cynthia blocked Sidney on the app. Sidney further revealed more screenshots of Cynthia’s profile on the app, which showed images of a short-haired woman sitting on a couch and wearing a black negligee.
She also shared another screenshot showing the sender posing in a short black dress and black heels. Meanwhile, Cynthia’s profile bio claims that she is bisexual and her male partner is named “Ant.”
Sidney Southerland keen to file a complaint against Cynthia Lopez
While speaking about the incident, Sidney Southerland told reporters that she was planning to file a complaint against Cynthia Lopez. She stated her speculations about how the judge was delaying her custody case due to her intention of bedding her. She stated:
I was fighting for my kids for two years and you’re giving me a hard time because of some s*xual attraction.”

Sidney Southerland currently has a lawsuit that the Bronx filed against her in September 2022. The incident began in July 2021, when NYPD officers raided her mother’s apartment and arrested her. Following the arrest, the Administration for Children’s Services took Sidney’s two children, Saint and Saniya, under their custody in February 2022. That same month, Sidney appeared in court in front of Judge Cynthia Lopez. Following the shocking incident and accusations against Cynthia Lopez, Judge Fiordaliza A. Rodriguez will now replace her in Sidney Southerland’s ongoing custody case.
