When Blackmore, 35, rode Minella Times to victory in the classic jumps race at Aintree in 2021, she gained international recognition. When Blackmore rode A Plus Tard to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup a year after her Grand National victory, she achieved yet another first for a female jockey.
Blackmore’s victory in the Champion Chase at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival put her further apart from other female riders and meant that she had won every championship event at the esteemed meeting during her career.
Following her unexpected departure from the sport, Rachel Blackmore will have more time to spend with her partner, Brian Hayes.
Brian Hayes and Blackmore have been dating for a few years.
Patrick Mullins disclosed the two were dating in a 2020 interview with the Guardian.

He said: “When I moved in with her and her boyfriend, Brian Hayes, myself and Brian would have been going racing most days.”
Brian even rode Mr Incredible in Aintree in the Grand National last year, competing against girlfriend Rachael.
At the 2025 Grand National, Brian doesn’t seem to be riding.
Who is Brian Hayes?
Brian Hayes was raised in Rosscarberry, County Cork, Ireland, after being born there in July 1988. While the net worth of the 36 year old isn’t known, his girlfriend Rachael is worth 11 million euros.
In March 2008, Brian rode Grancore Girl to his maiden racetrack victory at Clonmel. Thirteen days later, the two were back in Limerick’s winners’ enclosure.
On September 23, 2011, he began his professional career in Listowel with a victory over Ardglen, who was coached by Shark Hanlon.
He wasted no time in securing a second, and two days later, he scored again at Clonmel on the same horse.
When Brian rode Conduct Yourself, trained by John Kiely, to victory in the Easter Handicap Hurdle at Cork in 2017, it was one of the high points of his career. He had won another good handicap hurdle race on Ancient Sands at Killarney a year prior.
Additionally, he won the Grade 2 Tote.com Fortria Chase at Navan in 2015 with the help of the gifted Hidden Cyclone, who was also trained by Shark Hanlon.
