Brenda Tracy, a well-known r*pe survivor and activist, claims that Mel Tucker made s*xual remarks while they were on the phone with her now viral on Instagram
A well-known r*pe survivor and one of the best college football coaches in the nation teamed up to fight the pervasiveness of s*xual violence in sports two years ago.
Who is Brenda Tracy who has accused Mel Tucker of s*xual harassment as her photos go viral on Instagram
They ought to have worked together as a positive force. Instead, a scandal has developed, with the activist accusing the coach of the same wrongdoing that they both warned against.
Mel Tucker, one of the highest-paid football coaches in all of sports and the head coach at Michigan State University, is the accused. Brenda Tracy, a r*pe survivor who has dedicated teaching athletes about s*xual assault her life’s work, is the one who is accusing him.
Over the course of eight months, they developed a professional relationship that was concentrated on her advocacy work. Tucker invited Tracy to the university three times: once to speak to his team and staff, and twice to be recognised as an honorary captain before the team’s spring football game.
But Tracy claims in a complaint she submitted to the university’s Title IX office in December that their relationship was ruined during a phone call on April 28, 2022, which is still being investigated. Tracy apparently sat there for several minutes as Tucker masturbated and made derogatory remarks about her.
She claimed that his behaviour caused the 25-year-old wounds from the rape she suffered at the hands of three football players from Oregon State University and one from a local high school. She told USA Today:
The idea that someone could know me and say they understand my trauma but then re-inflict that trauma on me is so disgusting to me, it’s hard for me to even wrap my mind around it.”
She further said:
It’s like he sought me out just to betray me.”
In his answers to the Title IX investigator, Tucker acknowledged m*sturbating during the chat, but he claimed Tracy drastically exaggerated the incident. He asserted that they had “phone s*x” with each other’s consent. In a letter to the investigator dated March 22, Tucker said:
Ms. Tracy’s distortion of our mutually consensual and intimate relationship into allegations of s*xual exploitation has really affected me.”
He further said:
I am not proud of my judgment and I am having difficulty forgiving myself for getting into this situation, but I did not engage in misconduct by any definition.”
If Michigan State dismisses Tucker for reason, which would be a shocking fall from the upper ranks of college coaches, Tucker, who signed one of the most lucrative contracts in college sports history two years ago, might forfeit the roughly $80 million he is owed.
