Mohammad Hussamuddin’s Family And Achievements

Mohammad Hussammuddin hails from Nizamabad, Telangana to the boxer, Samsamuddin. His father and brothers, Ahteshamuddin and Aitesamuddin, represented India at international boxing events. Mohammad achieved a bronze medal in the first India International Open boxing championship which was held in New Delhi. He contested in the 56-kilogram category.

On 6 August 2022, Mohammed Hussamuddin secured a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022, after unfortunately losing 1-4 to Joseph Commey of Ghana in the men’s 57 kg Featherweight category. He had in the past secured a victory over Tryagain Morning Ndevelo of Namibia in a 4-1 split verdict in the semi-finals. Mohammad Husamuddin won the first round but was dominated in the subsequent rounds by Joseph.

It marked the 10th medal of the Indian contingent on this Saturday, 2022 with 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. The 28-year-old won the bronze medal in the 2018 CWG at the Gold Coast as well. Moreover, his father and the brothers have also represented India at international boxing events.

Hussamuddin had expressed that his preparation has been better this time and was confident of giving his outstanding performance and all of the best. He stated that,

“I don’t go into the ring thinking about winning or losing. But for me, the priority is hard work that I put in the ring and give my best at that. I will avoid taking pressure of winning or losing, I just want to give my all out of best.,” said Hussamuddin last month.

His boxing debut was marked at Junior National Tournament in 2009. He is 5ft 6in and competes in the Bantamweight category. Hussamuddin was coached by his father MD Shamsuddin only.
