The incident, caught on CCTV, revealed a black car colliding with their bike at high speed before fleeing the scene. Unfortunately, Tarak Ram succumbed to head injuries on the spot, while his colleague Raju, who also sustained injuries, was receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Prompt police action led to the apprehension of the accused, whose involvement in the incident raised suspicions of drunken driving. A subsequent investigation was initiated, and a case was registered under IPC section 304 a for negligence causing death.

In the evening, the victim’s family, unaware of the arrest, staged a protest outside Jubilee Hills police station. They dispersed only after being informed by the police about the apprehension of the accused.
The tragedy unfolded as the two colleagues, having completed their work at the pub, were on their way home after enjoying some street food.
The newly surfaced CCTV footage provided crucial evidence, depicting the heart-wrenching moment of impact between the car and the bike. This incident adds to the growing concern over road safety, as similar accidents continue to occur.
Another recent incident on Outer Ring Road at Tukkuguda claimed the life of a 41-year-old man who was hit by a speeding car while painting the median. The car, traveling from Bangalore to Pantancheru, also injured six other workers. A case was registered under section 304 in this tragic occurrence.
In a separate development, the investigation into the involvement of BRS former MLA Mohammed Shakeel Aamir’s son in a fatal road accident in Jubilee Hills in 2022 lacks substantial evidence, prompting a re-examination by the police.
The recent hit-and-run incident outside Praja Bhavan has triggered renewed scrutiny into the case. Amidst these incidents, a new law on hit-and-run offenses has sparked controversy, with the NGO Reformers protesting against what they consider a draconian law.
The law imposes severe penalties, including up to 10 years of imprisonment and a Rs 7 lakh fine for hit-and-run incidents.
