Boston police officer Pierce Fitzgerald Norton passed away on January 11, 2024, in South Boston. Following his death, the Boston Police Department issued the following statement on their official website:
Officer Norton was highly regarded by those he worked with, his supervisors, and all that knew him, both within the Department and by those he served.”
According to reports, there will be a memorial service on January 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. (local time) in honour of the departed soul. It will take place at St. Brigid Church, located at 841 East Broadway, in South Boston.

As of now, the exact cause of his death remains uncertain, but the City of Boston Emergency Management stated that Pierce suffered a medical emergency the same day.

Pierce Fitzgerald Norton was an active-duty police officer who recently passed away due to undisclosed causes. He was a resident of South Boston and was just 38 years old at the time of his passing. At the time of his death, he was stationed with the Boston Police Department. He was born to his parents, Lawrence and Maureen Fitzgerald Norton, and had three siblings named Lauren Wilson, Brian T. Norton, and Catherine.

According to sources, Pierce Fitzgerald Norton attended Providence College in Boston and graduated in 2009. During his time there, he was a prominent member of the men’s hockey team and he even got drafted in the ninth round of the NHL draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 2004.

Before that, he worked as a probationary officer.
