Cause of death
Neeraj Pepsu passed away on March 15, 2020, after committing suicide by consuming poison. According to reports, he was facing severe depression due to his father’s cancer diagnosis and setbacks in his personal business. Pepsu did not leave behind any suicide notes, leaving the exact reasons behind his actions unclear.
Devastated by his father’s illness who suffered from cancer, his own business loss he is said to have ended his life by consuming poison in the form of sulphas tablets. The deceased Neeraj Tanwar, known as Neeraj Pepsu Gurjar was a resident of Asola Village in Fatehpur Beri and his popularity was so much that many of his social media followers, in a mark of respect changed their profile pictures and put Neeraj’s pictures followed by ‘rest in peace’ messages.
According to the police, Neeraj consumed sulphas tablets and complained of vomiting and was taken to a private hospital where he died. “During the enquiry, it was revealed that his father is suffering from cancer and Neeraj was under depression. He had started a dhaba in Gurgaon but could not continue the business. He also worked as a bouncer for some time. He had not been working for last three-four months,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur.
The body was handed over to family members on Monday after post-mortem at AIIMS after his death on 15 March, 2020 at the age of 33.

Neeraj Pepsu, real name Neeraj Tanwar, was a late bodybuilder and social media influencer who was born on January 7, 1987, in Fatehpur Beri village, Delhi, India in a Gujjar Hindu family. Aside from being a bodybuilder, Neeraj was a gym trainer, bouncer, and social media personality. Neeraj hailed from a “Pehlwan” (wrestler) family, and his father worked as a farmer while his mother was a homemaker.
Neeraj was always interested in physical fitness and bodybuilding from a young age. Pepsu belonged to the Gujjar community and earned the title “Lion of the Gujjar fraternity”.
While he was married and had a son who went to Delhi Public School, the names of his family members aren’t known.

Following his graduation, Neeraj pursued bodybuilding full-time and worked as a gym trainer and bouncer. He participated in various bodybuilding competitions and won numerous prizes. He later opened up his own gym in Fatehpur Beri. Tanwar also competed in boxing championships.
