At the time of her appointment, Metreweli served as Director General for Technology and Innovation at MI6. As Chief, known internally as “C,” she will become the only publicly named officer in the organization and hold responsibility for all operational activities, reporting directly to the Foreign Secretary. Sir Richard Moore welcomed Metreweli’s appointment and described her as one of the leading minds in the field of technology. He expressed enthusiasm about her future as Chief and said her leadership would open a new chapter for the organization. Cabinet Secretary Christopher Wormald also supported the decision, saying she would represent MI6’s core values and serve as an inspiration to its officers.

Metreweli began her intelligence career in 1999 as a case officer and spent most of her time in operational roles across the Middle East and Europe. She also held senior positions in the domestic security agency MI5. An alumna of Pembroke College, Cambridge, she studied Anthropology and went on to become a respected figure in British intelligence, known for her leadership and expertise in innovation and technology.
Blaise Florence Metreweli who is British was born in the London borough of Brent in 1977 in a Christian family and is of Georgian ancestry. Her surname is a German spelling of the Georgian family name Metreveli and she studied anthropology at Pembroke College, Cambridge after completing her A Levels at Westminster School. In 1997 she was also a member of the crew which won the Women’s Boat Race.
Blaise’s father was Konstantine Metreveli was a radiologist in the Royal Army Medical Corps and he published numerous scientific papers about radiology. From 1986 to 2001 held the position of Chair of Diagnostic Radiology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Professor Metreweli was born during World War II in the Ukraine, and owes everything to his parents and English Education: Latymer (London), Cambridge and Oxford, graduating in 1967 and her mother’s maiden name is Borkovska but nothing else is known about her.
