She graduated from John Champe High School in 2020 and was a part of the first team All-Cedar Rund District her senior year. She set the school record with 30 kills in a match and single-season record with 266 kills and also played club volleyball for the Virginia Juniors.

This controversy came to the spotlight followed by a lawsuit filled against the NCAA, led by former Kentucky swimmer, Riley Gaines. The lawsuit is reportedly joined by SJSU player Brooke Slusser.

The suit filed in Georgia, seeks to address what it describes as “s*x discrimination against women in college athletics.”
What Did the Lawsuit Read?
Blaire Fleming, who transferred to San Jose State from Coastal Carolina in 2022, is mentioned in the lawsuit. In the viral lawsuit, Slusser claims that Fleming is “a male who identifies as transgender,” and alleges that she was not initially informed of Fleming’s transgender identity.
Slusser also states that the two roomed together during team trips, and she only became aware of Fleming’s gender identity after overhearing another student refer to Fleming as a “guy.”
Additionally, the lawsuit argues that the NCAA’s transgender eligibility policies, which allow Fleming to compete on the women’s volleyball team, have caused Slusser physical and emotional harm, including embarrassment, humiliation, and emotional distress.
Meanwhile, Boise State women took to social media and released a statement on Friday, explaining their decision to forfeit the match against San Jose State.
What Did Boise State Volleyball Team Say?
In their statement, the team penned, “Boise State volleyball will not play its scheduled match at San José State on Saturday, Sept. 28. Per Mountain West Conference policy, the Conference will record the match as a forfeit and a loss for Boise State. The Broncos will next compete on Oct. 3 against Air Force.”
San Jose State, currently 10-0 this season, remains unranked in the latest AVCA Division I College Volleyball poll.
