Ashish Sood, the minister of education for Delhi, asserted on Friday that certain city schools were “unfairly” treating their pupils as a result of “mismanagement” during the previous administration.

Following a high-level committee’s inspection of the Delhi Public School (DPS), Dwarka, Ashish Sood made these remarks in response to claims that the school had expelled 32 pupils for a “arbitrary” fee increases and used bouncers to prevent them from visiting the campus.
According to Sood, the Directorate of Education (DoE) ordered the school to reinstate the expelled kids within three days after the inspection. In order to guarantee that no student experiences prejudice because of fees, the department also instructed it to revoke its previous correspondence about the expulsion.
The committee was charged with reviewing the issue and comprised the director of education, a chartered accountant, the vice chancellor of a Delhi university, and the joint secretary of finance.
An official claims that Anu Singh Lather, the vice chancellor of Dr. BR Ambedkar University, headed the group that conducted the school’s inspection. The DoE said in a formal order on Thursday that the school’s activities were against court orders that forbid fee increases without departmental clearance. Students cannot be removed from school rolls for fee issues, and they must not be subjected to any kind of discrimination or coercion, according to a previous ruling by the High Court.
Sood said, “Since 2020, the school has been involved in disputes over fee hikes, and the matter is still pending in court. Due to the mismanagement of the previous government, some schools in Delhi have started treating students unfairly.”
Ashish serves as a Cabinet Minister in Delhi and is a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Janakpuri in the National Capital Territory of Delhi and additionally, he holds the positions of Prabhari for Goa and Seh-Prabhari for Jammu and Kashmir.
58-year-old Ashish Sood was born on September 2, 1966. Born and raised in Delhi, Ashish continued his education at the University of Delhi, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce with Honors from ARSD College.
Sood’s political journey began during his college days at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College(DU) where he pursued a degree in commerce and actively took part in student politics. Sood was associated with ABVP and was first elected Secretary of the college, after which he rose to the post of Joint Secretary of DUSU and later became the President of DUSU in 1988-89.
The son of Shri Madan Gopal Sood, he resides in Janakpuri, New Delhi along with his father, wife, two daughters and son.

He was heavily impacted by the ABVP’s nationalist ideologies as a young student.
