The incident triggered uproar in Madhya Pradesh as the Chief Minister of the State, Mr Shivraj Singh, ordered the arrest of the accused under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).
He said, โA viral video of Sidhi district has come to my attention.” I have instructed the administration to arrest the culprit, take strict action, and impose NSA.โ
The incident was confirmed by Ravindra Verma, Sidhi Superintendent of Police, who said, โUnder sections 294 (using profane language), 504 (intentional insult with a purpose to provoke breach of the peace), and pertinent portions of the SC/ST Act, an FIR has been filed against him.โ
Congress Gives The Incident A Political Turn And Blames The Government For Personal Action
The event also set off a political brawl in the upcoming election-year state when the opposition Congress claimed that the BJP MLA Kedarnath Shukla’s associate was to blame; the governing party has refuted this claim.ย
Asserting that Pravesh Shukla is connected to the BJP, MP Congress President Kamal Nath came forward to accuse the BJP government and said, โThe entire state of Madhya Pradesh has been shamed by this tragedy. I demand to give strict punishment to the accused.โ
However, MLA Kedarnath Shukla rejected the accusation. He said, โPravesh never served as a representative for me. I simply know him, but he is not connected to the BJP in any way. I am demanding strict action against the culprit.
Kedarnath Shukla is a strong leader of Vindhya region and is counted among the tall leaders of BJP in Sidhi district and has been a four-time MLA.
Pravesh Shukla is a BJP leader and a close aide and direct representative of BJP MLA from Sidhi named Kedarnath Shukla.
