Gourav Vallabh joins BJP
Notable Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh on Thursday, decided to resign from Congress and join the BJP. While taking up his new role, he cited that the party’s lack of clear direction and stance on various issues like the caste census, the Ram Temple, and Sanatan Dharma as the main reasons behind his decision to make the change.
While sharing his resignation letter on X, Vallabh stated:
I am disheartened by the aimless trajectory of the Congress Party’s current course. I cannot align with the constant denigration of Sanatan principles nor can I indulge in incessant vilification of the nation’s wealth creators. Hence, I am stepping down from all positions and relinquishing my primary membership of the Congress Party.”
Notably, Vallabh’s resignation comes just ahead the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He will join several other Congress leaders who have departed from the party, including Olympian boxer Vijender Singh and former MP Sanjay Nirupam.

Gourav Vallabh is a former Congress spokesperson who recently made the shift to BJP. He is currently 47-years-old and works as a finance professor at the Xavier School of Management (XLRI) in Jamshedpur.

Gourav has a Ph.D. in credit risk assessment and he is also a certified financial risk manager. He is also a chartered accountant (ICAI) and company secretary who holds LLB and MCom degrees. Aside from this, there is hardly any details about his personal life including about his family.

Gourav started out his involvement with the Indian National Congress back in 2017. By 2018, he was appointed to represent the party in television debates. Vallabh gained prominence following his debate with BJP media panelist Sambit Patra back in 2019. He first competed in elections in 2019, contesting from the Jamshedpur East constituency. However, during that election, the Indian National Congress (INC) came in at third. More recently, Vallabh contested from the Udaipur constituency during the 2023 Rajasthan assembly election.
