The accused were directed to appear in the MP/MLA Special Court in Bengaluru by the Jurisdiction Magistrate in Belagavi, according to Raviraj Patil, Advocate of CT Ravi. At the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, CT Ravi was arrested for allegedly calling Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar a “pr*stitute” and making other disparaging statements about her. In the Bengaluru sessions court, Ravi requested bail with him granted interim bail by the High Court.
Following his detention on Thursday, CT Ravi claimed that the city police had taken him on an unnecessary and uninformed detour. He claimed that the police had plotted his death, sat on the street in protest, and chanted anti-police chants. Ravi further stated that a police attack had hurt him on his head.
On the last day of the assembly in Karnataka, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, a minister in the Siddaramaiah government, accused BJP leader CT Ravi of making objectionable remarks and also lodged a complaint with the police and the police immediately arrested him.
Lakshmi Hebbalkar is serving as the Minister of Women and Child Development and Disabled and Senior Citizen Empowerment in the Karnataka government and is a Congress Party MLA from Belgaum Rural Assembly seat in Karnataka.
57-year-old CT Ravi was born on 18 July 1967 in Chikkamagaluru. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the IDSG College in Chikkamagaluru which he completed in 1991 and did his M. A. From Karnataka State, Open University Mysore in 2012.
Ravi’s wife Pallavi is an agriculturist, owns her own business and is also a social worker and the two share two sons together. They don’t have any daughter.
Ravi who is a Hindu by religion was born to C.F. Thimmegowda and belongs to the Vokkaliga community.
CT Ravi career
CT Ravi served as the president of the BJP Karnataka Yuva Morcha, the party’s youth wing. He then became the party’s State General Secretary when Rajnath Singh appointed him a Special Invitee. In press conferences, he also spoke on behalf of the party. He ran an unsuccessful campaign in the 1999 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections against Congressman C. R. Sageer Ahamed. By 982 votes, he lost.
After defeating C. R. Sageer Ahamed by a margin of over 25,000 votes in Chikmagalur during the 2004 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections, C. T. Ravi was elected to the Karnataka Legislature.
He was once more put forward by the BJP from the Chikmagalur Constituency and won when the Karnataka Legislative Assembly was disbanded in 2007 and the state had elections in April and May 2008.
His winning streak ended in 2023 when he lost to his former aide, H D Tammaiah, in the Assembly Elections. Tammaiah had switched from the BJP to the INC only months earlier.
