On Wednesday, during the Oklahoma City Thunder’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, centre Bismack Biyombo experienced a terrifying medical incident.
His teammates were getting off the floor for a stoppage when that scary moment in the first half occurred and Biyombo was high-fiving teammates from the sidelines. However, the 31-year-old veteran suddenly lost consciousness and fell to the ground.

He was evaluated further in the dugout after quickly regaining consciousness, and he then made his own way back there.
Who is Bismack Biyombo?
Bismack Biyombo Sumba is a professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA) who was born on August 28, 1992, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Lubumbashi, Zaire (now DR Congo). The 31-year-old stands 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) tall.
A look at Bismack Biyombo’s career so far
The Sacramento Kings traded Bismack Biyombo to the Charlotte Bobcats (now the Hornets) after selecting him with the seventh overall choice in the 2011 NBA draft.
On January 9, 2011, at the age of 18, Biyombo made his debut with Fuenlabrada in the Spanish ACB League against DKV Joventut.
The Sacramento Kings selected Biyombo seventh overall in the 2011 NBA draft, however on selection night, his rights were later traded to the Charlotte Bobcats. Biyombo and the Bobcats decided to a multi-year contract on December 19, 2011.
Biyombo and the Toronto Raptors agreed to a two-year, $5.7 million contract on July 18, 2015. In the team’s season-opening game against the Indiana Pacers on October 28, he made his Raptors debut, going on to score 7 points and grab 5 rebounds in a 106–99 victory.
Biyombo inked a $72 million, four-year contract with the Orlando Magic on July 7, 2016. In the team’s second game of the season on October 28, he made his Magic debut, scoring two points in less than twenty-three minutes during a 108-82 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
Biyombo was returned to the Charlotte Hornets on July 7, 2018, as part of a three-team deal. With the 2020–21 season, Biyombo became an unrestricted free agent. He signed a 10-day deal via the COVID-19 hardship exemption with the Phoenix Suns on January 1, 2022.
