Police has revealed that a third-year Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) student named Bimlesh Kumar was sadly discovered dead in his dorm room on Monday
A tragic event occurred on Monday morning when a 21-year-old Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) student was found dead. Bimlesh Kumar, an Uttar Pradesh-born third-year B.Tech computer science student is said to have committed suicide. He was last seen with his friends in the evening near the gym.

He was found hung dead inside his hostel room on Monday morning and police said the body of the student was sent for post-mortem and the circumstances surrounding his death were being investigated.
21 year old Bimlesh Kumar was found dead in his room at the Brahmaputra Hostel in Guwahati. He hailed from Balia in Uttar Pradesh. While the inquiry is still ongoing, the authorities have submitted the body for a post-mortem test. At IIT Guwahati, this is the fourth student death of the year. August 9 of last month saw the discovery of another female student deceased in her dorm room, purportedly from suicide.

Students demanding justice for the deceased and better mental health support for the student body gathered outside the administrative building in the wake of the most recent event. One demonstrator claimed that the student had been dealing with persistent mental and physical health problems, which made it difficult for him to concentrate on his academics.
The pupils claim that even though he provided the administration with medical certifications, his situation was not taken into account, which caused his mental state to deteriorate.
According to the police, Bimlesh’s father arrived in Guwahati on Monday with his friend. He is member of the CISF and has made the decision to bring the body of his son to his home for the final rituals.
Another official stated, “We will be speaking with him to learn more about him, but at this time he is not in a position to talk because of this irreparable loss.”

Response from IIT Guwahati
The dean of students’ welfare met with the angry students in reaction to the protests and reassured them that the school places a high priority on each student’s physical and emotional well. The representative also underlined IITG’s unwavering commitment to guaranteeing students’ wellbeing and providing them with a range of resources.
“IITG is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our students. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.”
