Who is Vijay Sinha?
Vijay Sinha is an Indian politician, who has been associated with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). He has been in the news because he will be the new deputy chief minister of Bihar after the recent political shuffle.
He was born on 5 June 1967 in Tilakpur, Bihar, India. His father’s name is Sharada Raman Singh and his mother’s name is Surma Devi.
Vijay Sinha has been married since 1986 and his wife’s name is Sushila Devi. The couple has four children: two sons and two daughters.
His family is currently living in Patna. He is currently 56 years old.
Sinha, who belongs to the influential Bhumihar community, was an active member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the RSS’ student wing, while pursuing a diploma course in civil engineering at a polytechnic in Barauni.
His career
Vijay Sinha has a lengthy history of affiliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party. He entered politics in 2010 when he was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly to represent the Lakhisarai seat. Early in his professional life, Sinha led the opposition in the Legislative Assembly of Bihar.
He gained even more prominence in Bihar politics when he was appointed Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, a position he held from 25th November 2020, until 24th August 2022. However, Sinha’s time as Speaker came to an end when he left the position following a motion of no confidence brought up by Mahagathbandhan, who was in power at the time.
He currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar alongside Samrat Choudhary, operating under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
