Shortly after, he surrendered to the authorities and was taken into custody by the Pune Police. The viral footage, which emerged a day earlier, captured Ahuja halting his BMW in the middle of the road before stepping out and urinating near the divider. His companion, identified as Bhagyesh Oswal, was seen inside the vehicle holding a beer bottle.

While Oswal was arrested around 11 pm on Saturday, Ahuja surrendered at a police station in Karad and both were taken for a medical checkup on Sunday morning.
Pune Police have made a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the Gaurav Ahuja obscene act case by apprehending Bhagyesh Oswal, a close associate of the accused. Oswal, who was reportedly present alongside Ahuja in the vehicle during the Yerawada incident, was taken into custody from Pune. Age 24 Gaurav is the son of hotelier and businessman Manoj Ahuja, who when approached by the media, expressed deep regret over his son’s actions. Stating that he felt ashamed, he acknowledged his willingness to accept any legal consequences. The BMW which his son Gaurav was seen driving in the viral video is registered in Manoj’s name.
Their restaurant, ‘Cream & Kitchen’, is located in the Swargate area of Pune with Manoj and Gaurav also said to be involved in cricket and poker betting.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials are delving deeper into Ahuja’s background, with reports suggesting a history of alcohol addiction. Authorities are also examining whether his involvement extends to the consumption of other narcotic substances. With the case unfolding rapidly, the police are intensifying efforts to locate and bring him to justice.

A video that surfaced online captured a shocking incident at Pune’s Shastri Nagar junction, where a man was seen stepping out of a BMW and urinating openly on the road. His friend, holding a liquor bottle, remained seated inside the vehicle. Despite objections from passersby, the duo fled the scene. Following the viral spread of the footage, Pune police registered an FIR against the driver and his companion under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for obscene acts in public, along with provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act for alleged drunk driving.

Authorities identified the driver as Gaurav Ahuja and his friend as Bhagyesh Oswal. While Oswal was taken into custody for medical examination, Ahuja remains absconding. Police also questioned Ahuja’s father, businessman Manoj Ahuja, as the registered owner of the car. Reports further revealed that Gaurav Ahuja had previously been arrested in 2021 in connection with a high-profile cricket betting case involving gangster Sachin Pote. He was later granted bail.
The incident sparked widespread outrage, with Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe and other political leaders calling for strict legal action.
