Beth Thompson, a Scottish native, is Roberto Martinez’s spouse. When Thompson was attending Glasgow University for her studies and the Spaniard was playing for Motherwell, the two met in 2002. They dated for a number of years before getting married in 2009 at Swansea’s Cathedral Church of St. Joseph.

The Portugal coach stated in an interview that they had two televisions in their living room to suit different tastes in viewing. While Martinez does not share Beth Thompson’s passion for soap operas, the latter enjoys watching her favourite series.
He said, “We can sit together, at the corner point of the sofa, while looking directly at our own TVs. I sit watching football with my headphones on while Beth has the sound on watching whatever it is she wants to.”
