Now Benjamin and his allies have won enough seats to form a government in parliament. They are all set to make right-wing politics which is likely to diminish the chances for peace in Palestine.

On Tuesday, the 9th PM of Israel addressed the supporters as he said, “We have received a huge vote of confidence and we are on the verge of a very big victory.”

As of the exit polls data, Pro-Benjamin parties would take 61 or 62 seats out of 120 parliamentary seats.

Their alliance consists of Netanyahuโ€™s Likud party, Religious Zionism/Jewish Power, Shas and United Torah Judaism.

On the other hand, the present PM of Israel, is being backed up by Yesh Atid, National Unity, Yisrael Beiteinu, Labor, Meretz and Raโ€™am.

Who is Benjamin Netanyahu?

For those who are unfamiliar, let us remind you, Benjamin Netanyahu is the new PM of Israel. He has served the country as the 9th PM from 1996 to 1999 and was re-elected from 2009 to 2021.

From 1978 to 1984 he studied law at the University of Hamburg, and throughout this time he was active in the SPD’s youth organization Education and also received a B.Sc. degree in Architecture and an M.Sc. in Business Management from MIT. His net worth stands at $13 million.

He had a younger brother Yoni Netanyahu who is no more.

Benjamin is also known as the longest serving PM in Israel’s history as well as the first PM to be born in the country after its Independence declared.

Netanyahu was born in Tel Aviv however was raised in Jerusalem as well as in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States.

In 1967, he returned to Israel and joined the Defense forces. At the time he even became a team leader in special forces.

During 1984-1988, he served as the Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations.

In 1993, he became the leader of the opposition after he was elected as the chairman of Likud. In 1996’s election, he defeated the incumbent PM, Shimon Peres and became the youngest ever prime minister.

Though after serving a single term, he was drafted heavily in the 1999 elections. After so many years, he returned to politics and joined the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Finance.

In December 2005, he became the leader of Likud once again after Sharon stepped down to form his own new party, Kadima.

After which, Benjamin led the Likud to victory in the 2013 and 2015 elections.

Back in 2019, Benjamin was indicted on the charges of breach of trust, fraud and bribery.

In his life, Benjamin married 3 times. His first marriage was with Miriam Weizmann. However, the couple got divorced after he was found cheating on his wife with a British student named Fleur Cates.

In 1981, married to Cates. However their marriage didn’t last long as the couple went their separate ways in 1984.

In 1991, he again got married to Sara Ben-Artzi after the duo met on a EI AI flight from New York to Israel.

As per reports, Benjamin has a close relationship with Hungarian PM Viktor Orbรกn. The two have known each other for decades because of the relationship between the Likud party and the EPP.
