Eight of the nine cases filed against him, according to his affidavit, had to do with document leaks.
In a video that has gone popular on social media, Bedi Ram is purportedly admitting to leaking documents and accepting payment in exchange for hiring people for state-level government positions.
Ram is said to have discussed in the video his contacts with document leak victims across several states. According to reports, he exclusively takes on major cases involving lots of people and turns off little ones (for jobs).
In 2009, Bedi Ram was the subject of a formal complaint filed by the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Jaipur about the leak of railway recruitment papers. In 2014, he was also detained and imprisoned in relation to the purported leak of Railway recruiting exam papers. The court case is still continuing at this time.
In the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission paper leak case, the Special Task Force (STF) in Bhopal has also filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) against him.
Bedi Ram was hit with the Gangster Act in 2006 for disclosing the exam used to apply for jobs in the railways. Another incidence was reported in Gomti Nagar two years later.
In Madiahu, Jaunpur, FIR was filed in 2010 against Bedi Ram for leaking the police recruitment exam paper. 2014 saw the registration of another case.The opposition parties said that Ram has good relations to the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh and urged action against the MLA on Thursday.
Prior to being elected as an MLA, Bedi Ram was reportedly incarcerated in a document leak case, according to the Congress. The Congress stated that since the SBSP was an ally of the NDA, it is impossible to rule out the BJP government’s role in the paper leak if the video is accurate.
Akhilesh Yadav stated that Bedi Ram has to be taken into custody right away for the document leak.
“Do we need any more proof of the moral degradation of the leaders patronised by the BJP, who play with the future of children. Such parents who have voted for the BJP are not only regretting it today but are also vowing never to vote for the BJP in the future. Shameful, arrest him immediately,” said Yadav.

Bedi Ram ran for the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party in the 2022 assembly elections. The current block head of Jaunpur’s Jalalabad block is Bedi Ram’s wife.
Om Prakash Rajbhar, the national president of the SBSP, is said to have Bedi Ram as one of his closest aides. Bedi Ram initially ran in the Varanasi assembly elections from Pindra. Under the BSP banner, he ran in the 2007 assembly elections.
Additionally, 64 year old Bedi Ram has run for Ghazipur’s municipal chairmanship. He did not win the election, nevertheless. Although Bedi Ram presently resides in Lucknow, his ancestral home is in Jaunpur.
