According to reports, Arenas was hospitalized after crashing into a Tesla Cybertruck early Thursday morning.
Alijah Arenas in coma following a “serious” car crash
Alijah Arenas is an upcoming basketball prospect who is currently in the news following a tragic car crash that took place around 4:55 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025. According to reports from the Los Angeles Fire Department, first responders arrived at the scene following reports of a Tesla Cybertruck crashing into a tree and fire hydrant, eventually catching fire.

While officials initially did not confirm the driver’s name publicly, ESPN went on to report that the victim was in fact Alijah Arenas. Authorities found Arenas outside the vehicle before taking him to the hospital in a serious condition. Following the crash, doctors have placed him in a medically induced coma.
USC coach Eric Musselman issued a statement, saying:
Our thoughts and prayers are with Alijah and his family following this morning’s accident. Please keep him, his teammates and friends, and the entire Arenas family in your prayers.”

Alijah Arenas is an elite-level American basketball prospect who was born on March 16, 2007, in Oakland, California, and grew up in the Woodland Hills neighborhood. He is the son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, and he is currently just 18 years old. Despite his young age, Alijah has already made a name for himself on the high school and national circuit. Alijah mainly plays as a Shooting guard on the court.
