Who is Alex Sarr?

Alexandre Dam Sarr popularly known as Alex Sarr is a profesional basketball player who was born on April 26, 2005 in Bordeaux, France. The 18-year-old stands 216 cm (7 ft 1 in) tall and weighs 98 kg.

The 7-foot-1 center with a 7-foot-4 wingspan played this season with Perth in Australia’s National Basketball League.

A Look at Alex Sarr’s career so far

Alex Sarr started playing baskebatll at a very young age, when he was just four years old. He left France at the age of 14 to join Real Madrid and begin his basketball career and it all started since then. He played for the Spanish squad for two seasons before joining Atlanta-based Overtime Elite for the following two seasons.

In order to play for the Overtime Elite league, which offered Sarr a guaranteed minimum salary of at least $100,000 annually as well as an alternative professional road, he moved to Atlanta in 2021. He competed at Overtime Elite for two seasons, playing for Team Overtime in the first and YNG Dreamerz in the second.

He played in the Australian National Basketball League this past season. Sarr joined the Perth Wildcats of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL) as a member of the Next Stars programme for the 2023–24 season, having signed a contract with the team on May 9, 2023.

During the last season recently, per game, with the Perth Wildcats, he averaged 9.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 30% from three-point range.

This past September, Sarr made headlines during a much-awaited two-game series versus G League Ignite in Las Vegas. He put up an incredible 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 6.0 blocks per game on average.

Talking about his international career, he has played for FIBA U16 European Challengers in 2021 and propelled France win bronze and silver at the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup, respectively.
