Sanjana Barkade, a national-level baseball player, committed suicide by hanging herself on June 5, Monday, after suffering repeated threats to convert to Islam in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district
Abdul Mansoori alias Rajan Khan, the accused, was detained on Thursday by Sanjeevni Nagar police on allegations of abetment to suicide. According to the deceased victim’s mother, Abdul Mansoori was urging Sanjana to convert to Islam. Abdul, according to Sanjana’s father, lied about his true name in order to trap the victim. Sanjana committed suicide in her bedroom when her parents were out for a family gathering.

As per a earlier report by Dainik Bhaskar, the preliminary investigation revealed that the two were in a relationship for more than a year. However, a few days ago, the couple had an argument over Instagram story.
Meanwhile, friends of the deceased stated that Sanjana was quite jittery due to the continuous news of love jihad cases, which made her distanced herself from Abdul, however, he continued to threaten her.
The mother of the victim alleged that Abdul threatened Sanjana over the call a few days ago too. According to her mother’s statement, at the time, Abdul stated that “You’re the girl’s mother? It’s good that you picked up the call. I wanted to talk to you only. You persuade your daughter to accept our religion (Islam). I want to do nikah with your daughter. If you do not accept our religion, we have come to find out where you live. We will kill you. Nothing will happen if you accept Islam.”
After the call was disconnected, the mother of the deceased questioned her about the caller. To which, her daughter randomly told her that she didn’t know him and just switched off her cell phone.

She was a National-Level Basketball player.
He is a street vendor/fruit seller in Rewa.Her name was Sanjana Barkade, his name is Abdul Mansoori.
He allegedly posed as a Hindu, and got in a relationship with Sanjana.

In another report, Sanjana’s father expressed that he learned the fact that her daughter was speaking with a Muslim boy but not Hindu. He also stated that however, Sanjana made the necessary distance after learning the real identity of Abdul.
It made Abdul angry as a result he start torturing her. He stole her documents, medals, certificates which she was awarded in several baseball competitions. When the deceased asked him to return all of her belongings, he conditioned that he will only return her things after she convert to Islam.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father reported that the offender was apprehended after he filed a complaint. This has given him some relief, but justice will not be done until Abdul is punished.
According to the police, Abdul told them during interrogation that he had been in a relationship with Sanjana for a year. He also paid three visits to Jabalpur to meet Sanjana. But Sanjana began to distance herself from him. He was constantly pressuring her to keep the connection going by threatening to make her photographs and videos go viral on social media if she didn’t.
Following Sanjana’s suicide, authorities are attempting to identify the source of the fight between the accused and the deceased victim. According to reports, Sanjana’s father has accused Abdul Mansoori, a street seller in Rewa, of trapping his daughter in love jihad.
