He was born on 3 October 1972 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. His father’s name is Syed Riaz Ahmed; however, the other whereabouts of his family are unknown. According to reports, he is married and has two children.

His career
Tanvir Ahmed’s umpiring career began in Bangladesh in the 2005–06 season, when he officiated his first List A game. In the 2007–08 season, he officiated his first first-class game. From 2012 on, he regularly officiated games for the Bangladesh Premier League.
He was chosen to join the ICC International Panel of Umpires in November 2018 as a result of his umpiring abilities. On December 17, 2018, he officiated in the first T20 International between the West Indies and Bangladesh, making his debut as an international umpire.
However, throughout his career, Tanvir has been at the center of various contentious decisions and on-field altercations with players.
