On Saturday, young Torrie Lewis made her Diamond League debut and it was one to remember for all life. She got out to a fast start and defeated 100-meter world champion Sha’Carri Richardson and Tamara Clark to win in lane nine in an unexpected fashion.

In the lead-up to the Olympics, Australia’s fastest female sprinter, Torrie Lewis, made history by overcoming the world 100-meter champion in the 200-meter event at the first Diamond League event of the season in China. She won the race with a run time of 22.96 seconds.

Who is Torrie Lewis?
Torrie Lewis is a track and field athlete who was born on January 8, 2005 in Nottingham, England. Lewis was born to a father of Jamaican/Indian descent and a mother of Scottish descent.
When her mum was 16, she moved from Switzerland to England and lived by herself.
She is suffering from a Coeliac disease which is a autoimmune disorder for long term and affects small intestine.
A look at Torrie Lewis’ career so far
When Lewis was six years old, Lewis’ mother and she moved to Australia and settled in New South Wales and thats where it all started. Since then only, she turned her all focus on track and field mastering herself in a promising gymnast. She moved to Queensland and enrolled at St. Peters Lutheran College.
She has won Australia’s national titles in both the 100 and 200 metres. She set a new national record for Australia in the 100 metres in January 2024, clocking in at 11.10 seconds.
After getting success in several sprints and races, she has records some personal best records in her career. Few of many are 100m: 11.10 (Canberra, 2024) and 200m: 22.94 (Adelaide, 2024).
