Tom Craig caught buying cocaine
Australian hockey player Tom Craig recently got released from police custody in Paris after officials previously arrested him for allegedly buying cocaine. The Paris prosecutor’s office had issued a circular stating that they have arrested two individuals on Tuesday night for buying and selling cocaine in the ninth arrondissement. After further investigations, the buyer was reportedly found to be a member of the Australian field hockey team.
Officials however, released Craig with just a warning and he later issued an apology while leaving the police offices:
I’d firstly like to apologise for what has occurred in the last 24 hours. I made a terrible mistake. I take full responsibility for my actions. My actions are my own and in no way reflect the values of my family, my team-mates, my friends, my sport, and the Australian Olympic team. I’ve embarrassed you all. I’m truly sorry.”

Thomas William Craig is an Australian field hockey player who was born September 3, 1995 in Lane Cove, Australia. He is currently 28 years old, and mainly plays as a midfielder for the Australian national team. Interestingly, Tom is also a qualified solicitor. Craig won a silver at the Tokyo 2020 Games and has made over 100 appearances for the Australian national team.

Career and achievements
Tom Craig was a member of the Australian Under 21 team that won the Junior Oceania Cup in 2016. He then competed alongside the team at the Junior World Cup in Lucknow, India, where they finished at fourth. Craig then made his senior international debut during a test series against India in 2014. Craig then competed at the Champions Trophy in Bhubaneswar, India, and has since featured regularly in the Australian team.
He was notably a member of the team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games where they won a gold medal. Later that year in November, Craig played with the Kookaburras at the Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar, India coming in at 3rd. He managed to score 4 Goals in the tournament, including a Hattrick in the Bronze Medal match. Tom Craig was also a part of the national team that won the Inaugural FIH Pro League in 2019.
Following his success, Craig got selected in the Kookaburras Olympics squad for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The team reached the final of the event for the first time since 2004 but lost out to Belgium in a shootout. Following the 2020 Summer Olympics, Tom joined Dutch Hoofdklasse club Klein Zwitserland. He was recently a part of the Australian national team that got knocked out of the Paris 2024 Olympics quarterfinal.
