Thousands of Twitter employees were locked out of their work and accounts. The class action suit was filed on 3.10.22, Thursday at a San Francisco federal court. It alleges that the employees were not given enough notice of mass layoffs which is in violation at California and federal law.
The suit was filed by Shannon Liss-Riordan is an order stating Twitter to obey the WARN Act, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification. The WARN Act, which is a federal law, it requires employers to give 60 days’ notice in case of mass layoffs or other work disruptions.
The class action suit also seeks that the court restricts Twitter from creating staffers to sign documents that will take away their right to engage in legal action.

Shannon Liss-Riordan is a labour lawyer who is well known for her tracking of class action cases against global corporate giants such as Uber, FedEx and Starbucks. She was raised up in Houston, Texas.
Liss-Riordan took education from the University of Harvard and is having a bachelor’s degree. Afterwards, she went to work for Bella Abzug and was a part of the American feminist movement. Then went on to study law at Harvard and she graduated from Harvard Law in late 1996.
One of her first experiences with labor law came when she joined Pyle Rome Lichten and Ehrenberg, a Boston-based labour law firm. She tasted success when she achieved her two disability discrimination trials in federal court.
Shannon Liss-Riordan has filed a number of lawsuits against the tech giants engaged in the gig economy. These include Lyft, Uber and Amazon. These suits have raised the question if companies are improperly classifying their workers as independent contractors.
