Hudson-Smith set a new European record for a 400-meter event at the Oslo Diamond League on May 30, 2024, after beating the previous record of 44.26 seconds with a new timing of 44.07 seconds. With the record-breaking win, Matthew Hudson-Smith marked his arrival in the Olympic season and sent a note to current heavyweights such as Kirani James, Vernon Norwood, and Michael Norman.

Hudson-Smith’s recent win was a much-needed win after he had to pull out of the Tom Jones Memorial earlier this year following an injury.

Matthew Hudson-Smith is a British track and field sprinter who was born on October 26, 1994, in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. He is currently 29 years old and he is the son of Cheryl Hudson-Smith. Hudson-Smith specialises in the 400 metres and currently holds the British and European record in the 400m event after finishing it at a personal best of 44.07 seconds.

He is coached by Gary Evans in America. He started his career being coached by Tony Hadley at Birchfield Harriers club in Birmingham.
