Age 24 Singh hails from the Patial village in Jalandhar, Punjab and a lot has changed for Gurindervir since he started training under James Hillier at the Reliance Foundation. His father (Kamaljeet Singh) is a former volleyball player and he trained him with all the knowledge he had.
Gurindervir Singh is eligible to compete at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships. The next Asian Athletics Championships will take place in May in Gumi, South Korea.
“My complete focus at the moment is on the Asian Track and Field Championships. We haven’t won a medal in a long time and I would like to break that deadlock. With my qualification done, I am looking at the medal,” said Gurindervir.
Hoblidhar and Gurvinder Singh went next to each other in lanes 5 and 6, with the sprinter from Jalandhar swerving ahead close to the finish line. At the Inter-State Championships in 2021 and 2024, Gurindervir Singh took home gold in the 100-meter competition. In the 2024 Federation Cup, the Punjabi sprinter also took first place.
James Hiller is Gurindervir Singh’s coach at the Reliance Foundation. The Reliance Foundation is represented by five of the top six 100-meter runners: Gurvinder Singh, Manikanta Hoblidhar, Amlan Borgohain, Lalu Prasad Bhoi, and Abinash Sahu.
Prior to the August Federation Cup, Gurindervir Singh was thrilled with his 10.2-second time at the Indian Grand Prix.
“I have been waiting for this record for a very long time. I knew that I was capable of getting the national record. When I did 10.27s in 2021, it was just a difference of 20 milliseconds. I am happy to finally break the record,” Gurindervir said.
In addition to calling the national record a “bonus,” the 24-year-old stated that he anticipated performing even better at the next Federation Games.

He has faced several obstacles along the way. The sprinter, 24, had a difficult time with stomach ulcers. His time drastically decreased as a result of the issue, which prevented him from eating anything and caused him to lose weight.
His fastest timing of the year was 10.50 seconds after his return in 2023. However, he really came back to his former self last year when he won the gold medal at the Federation Cup with a time of 10.33 seconds. He overcame Amlan and Animesh Kuju to win the gold medal at the National Inter-State Championships in June 2024 with a time of 10.32 seconds, despite the fact that his performance was ruled unlawful because of an excessive wind speed of +2.5 m/s during his race.
