On the 30th of December 2022, YG Entertainment unveiled the teaser declaring their plans to make a debut with a new girl group. On the 1st of January 2023, the group’s name was confirmed to be baby monster.
In the same video which got uploaded, Asa could be seen in it practicing, seemingly confirming her status as a member of the group. On the 26th of January, Asa was then introduced through live performance as the fourth member of the group Babymonster.
It has been reported that Asa and fellow Babymonster member, Ruka will be considered the first female Japanese idol to debut under YG Entertainment. This 16-year-old is also known by her full name Sakamoto Asa.
