A female named Asa Blanton who is allegedly Indian State University’s nursing student is facing backlash online after she apparently criticized Beyonce and the black community in a social media video

For the unversed, the now-deleted video surfaced shortly after Beyoncé released her country album “Act II: Cowboy Carter” on March 28.

The album quickly gained traction on TikTok, prompting various users to save and respond to the footage by stitching it with their own videos.

Soon afterwards the video of the purported nursing student surfaced online. The woman who allegedly believe to be student of Indiana University is identified by various media outlets as Asa Blanton.

For those who are unfamiliar with the scenario, the woman can be heard saying in her video that “I’m sorry, but if you’re Black, you’re not country. I don’t care. And I meant that in the nicest way.”

The statement further includes “I know you were raised in the country or your grandparents were, I guess – your great granny and grandpas – but they was picking. OK? They wasn’t planting. Just keep that in mind. They wasn’t making money. They was getting sold for money. You ain’t country.”

Social Media User’s Reaction 

After witnessing the now-deleted video, the users across social media platforms have expressed their outrage and fury. One such user took to X/Twitter and wrote, “I’m not even a Beyonce’ fan, but WTF? It’s okay for whites to do rap & R&B! Who TF owns the rights to ANY particular music genre? NO F***ING BODY.”

Another one joined, ”I wouldn’t want her as my nurse but I have a feeling she loves being a snow bunny to prey on blk men and hates blk women.”

Meanwhile, the student of the university held a protest on Monday to showcase their outrage as they held signs which read “Student Against Racism” and “ Justice Brings Peace.”

After learning about the fact, the Indiana State University issued a statement on Tuesday. As per the statement shared on Facebook, it reads, “the remarks made by the student are not in harmony with the core values of our institution.

“We reiterate our dedication to cultivating an environment of inclusivity. Indiana State University considers such incidents with gravity and remains steadfast in its endeavor to uphold a hospitable atmosphere for all.”

Meanwhile, Beyoncé, is continue to making history with the album as it is currently ranks No. 1 on the Billboard country albums charts. It makes Beyoncé the first Black woman to ever top the country Billboard chart.
