To say that his influence was astounding would be a huge understatement. After retrieving the ball 35 yards from the goal, the 32-year-old produced a magnificent half-volley with his right foot that sailed over the custodian and into the net’s roof.
To cut the lead in half, Adams turned and unleashed a nasty attempt from deep outside the penalty area. Leighton McIntosh levelled from the penalty spot in the last ten minutes to give Arbroath a point. Arbroath went to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their disbelief at what they had witnessed. They wrote: Ali with an absolute SCREAMER from 30 yards out!!! WHAT A MAN!!”

With just four players listed on the bench, the visitors had exhausted all of their other replacements when the 32-year-old goalkeeper was sent on for his league debut shortly before the hour mark. However, he did so as an outfield player to replace the injured defender Aaron Steele.
Arbroath had only been able to select 15 players in their matchday squad, out of a maximum of 20, due to an injury crisis. Arbroath thus had a mere four options for replacements. By halftime, three of the substitutions had been already made. Thus, keeper Adams was the only choice to take Aaron Steele’s position after the centre-back suffered an injury in the 58th minute.
