With a total weight of 597.5 kilogrammes, Anne Andres outweighed SuJan Gill by more than 200 kilogrammes in the powerlifting competition at the Brandon University Healthy Living Centre. SuJan Gill’s score was 387.5 kilogrammes.
The score of the 40-year-old is currently the highest one has ever bench pressed, deadlifted, and squatted. The powerlifter broke both the unofficial women’s global powerlifting record and the women’s national record in Canada.
On Instagram, she boasted about her accomplishments. She posted:
I don’t care about records. I care about being there with my friends… Thank you for having me friends. I am always honored to be there with you. I hope I earn it.”
As Andres celebrates her success, a video of her making fun of other women’s powerlifting records has gone viral online. Andres said the following in a video that went viral and has about two million views:
Why is women’s bench so bad? I mean not compared to me, we all know that I’m a tranny freak so that doesn’t count and no we’re not talking about Mackenzie Lee, she’s got little T-Rex arms and she is 400 pounds of chest muscle apparently. I mean standard bench in powerlifting competition for women, I literally don’t understand why it’s so bad.”

On Piers Morgan Uncensored, Canadian competitive powerlifter April Hutchinson also criticised Andres’ performance. She expressed her dismay at Andres’ victory, noting that “athletes have been chasing that for years.” She further said:
It goes to show the advantages, the physiological advantages that a male has over a female, whether it’s muscle mass, bone density, lung capacity. I could go on.
Since the gender self-identification policy is in place, Anne Andres is eligible to compete in women’s powerlifting events. This enables athletes to compete based only on their preferred gender without having to disclose any information regarding their hormones or medical transitions.
