Know all details about Angel Reese’s viral video involving Ann Crosby from the latest game of Chicago Sky
Angel Reese attracted attention during the Chicago Sky’s game against the Washington Mystics after an intense moment near the end of regulation. With about 30 seconds left and the score tied at 77, Reese reacted angrily to a foul call. As she returned to the bench, Ann Crosby, the team’s vice president of basketball operations and strength and conditioning coach, approached her with a clipboard. Reese knocked the clipboard out of Crosby’s hands with her left arm, and it landed near the court.

Ann started out as a strength and conditioning coach and prior to joining Sky, Crosby was the head strength and conditioning coach for the University of Illinois-Chicago’s 18 athletic teams, helping both the UIC men and women’s basketball teams warm up and stretch.
It was during a 2006 UIC men’s basketball game that Altar and Georgia Fisher (then the athletic trainer and director of operations) approached Crosby about a job with the Sky with her now having spent 20 years with the team.
As a strength and conditioning coach, her professional career included championship titles at the professional and collegiate level, including a soccer World Cup title with Germany’s national women’s team.
Crosby went to UIC after nearly six years as an independent strength and conditioning consultant for numerous professional athletes, including 2003 Women World Cup MVP and three-time FIFA Player of the Year Birgit Prinz, softball player Tara Knudsen and the entire Scottish Women National Lacrosse Team.
At the collegiate level, Crosby served as a strength and conditioning coach for Georgia Tech (2003-2004) and Northwestern (1998-2001) and at Northwestern, Crosby designed and implemented programs for 15 varsity sports while assisting the football, men’s basketball, wrestling and men’s golf strength coaches. Crosby also served as the head of athlete performance for the Carolina Courage of the Women’s United Soccer Association from 2001-2003, becoming the first full-time strength and conditioning coach in the WUSA.
From 2004 through 2005, Crosby served as the director of women’s sports for Velocity Sports Performance in Baltimore, Md. Crosby earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with an emphasis in biomedical science from Western Michigan University in 1998 and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and earned certification and membership with the American Red Cross, USA Track and Field, USA Weightlifting, the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Ann is also a surrogate mother.
Earlier this week in training camp, the Sky honored strength and conditioning coach Ann Crosby for her 20 years with the team.

Later, Reese addressed the situation on social media and explained that she had been overwhelmed with frustration in the moment. According to Reese, Crosby did not expect or require an apology, knowing it was the result of competitive pressure. Reese made it clear that such behavior would not happen again.
In the game, Reese delivered a strong performance with 22 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, and one steal. However, she also committed five fouls and three turnovers. She tied the game again with two successful free throws, but on the following possession, Elizabeth Williams was called for a foul on Shakira Austin. Austin converted both free throws with less than three seconds remaining. Rachel Banham’s final attempt at a deep three-pointer missed, and the Sky lost 81–79.
I don't think you can do that to Ann Crosby.
For those who don't know her, she's a legend for the Sky. https://t.co/SykGR1RfID— Yoann Cabioc'h (Γιοάν Καμπιός) (@Y_Cab_4) July 8, 2025
Chicago had a better shooting percentage overall and from three-point range. The Sky shot 45 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc, compared to the Mystics’ 42.3 percent and 26.7 percent. However, Washington made 31 free throws, while Chicago made 25.
Reese is currently among the top rebounders in the league but also ranks near the top in personal fouls. She has recorded 60 fouls this season, just behind Ariel Atkins and Kiki Iriafen. During her rookie year, she accumulated 119 fouls, behind only Aliyah Boston and Kahleah Copper.
Williams, who fouled out, scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Shakira Austin finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. The Sky have now lost three of their last four games and remain near the bottom of the WNBA standings with a record of 5–13. Their next game is against the Dallas Wings.
