A woman accused the ‘Yeshu Yeshu Prophet’ Bajinder Singh of engaging in non-consensual s*xual encounters with her under the guise of sending her overseas, and the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Vikrant Kumar has rendered the decision in the r*pe case.

The victim had also claimed that the pastor had recorded a p*rnographic film of her. On March 28, the Jalandhar-based 42-year-old Bajinder Singh was found guilty by the court with him sentenced to life imprisonment today.

The case began in 2018 when a woman from Zirakpur accused Bajinder of s*xually exploiting her under the guise of helping her travel abroad and alleged that he recorded an inappropriate video and threatened to release it online if she did not meet his demands. Bajinder was earlier out on bail.

On April 20, 2018, a case was filed under several provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Bajinder Singh.

Five other people were also booked in addition to the pastor, including Pastors Jatinder and Akbar, Sattar Ali, and Sandeep Pehelwan. Five others involved in the case-pastor Jatinder, Akbar, Sattar Ali and Sandeep Pehelwan-were meanwhile acquitted. The victim expressed relief over the verdict and said, “He (Bajinder) is a psychopath and will commit the same crime even after coming out of jail, so I want him to remain in jail. Today many girls (victims) have won.”

Bajinder Singh’s family and education

On September 10, 1982, Bajinder Singh was born in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana in a Hindu farmer’s family. He is five feet eight inches tall. Singh and his wife Anika are parents to two girls. Not much is known about his wife but the two have been married for some time now. While her DOB isn’t known, she is aged between 35-45 years while her husband Bajinder is aged 42.

Bajinder Singh’s income increased from Rs 41,120 for the 2017–18 assessment year to Rs 1,03,230 for the 2018–19 assessment year and Rs 1,23,889 for the 2019–20 assessment year.

Intriguingly, the ministry’s gross fixed assets were valued at Rs 2,85,63,575 during the assessment year 2020–21, along with secured loans of Rs 10,73,034, unsecured loans of Rs 34.33 lakh, and members’ capital of Rs 1,95,082,52.

He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from an engineering college in Haryana. He allegedly converted to Christianity while he was in jail related to a murder case some ten years ago.

Approximately ten years ago, while incarcerated in connection with a murder case, he reportedly converted and became a Christian by religion with him claiming he was overtaken by evil forces during his 1.5 years in jail. In 2012, he became a self-proclaimed preacher who claimed to practice “miracle healing” and use prayers at his center in Tajpur village, Jalandhar, to cure paralysis, deadly diseases, and other afflictions.

Bajinder Singh career

Bajinder Singh has founded a number of churches under the name Church of Glory and Wisdom. He is known for hosting sizable prayer gatherings that frequently include public performances, and his ministry has multiple branches in Punjab and other places.

There are rumours that he illegally obtained wealth have also raised questions about his “proximity” to some high-ranking police officers. Interestingly, they also expressed satisfaction with the security protection that the Punjab Police offered.

He invites local politicians and entertainment personalities to attend his church prayer meetings and events, which frequently results in a rise in awareness and attendance.

The preacher was charged with harassing another woman in February of this year. On March 16, a video showing him striking a woman who worked for his organization in Mohali in his Chandigarh office went viral.

In a previous complaint, the woman accused the pastor of s*xual misconduct at the Church of Glory and Wisdom in Jalandhar. She said he initiated unwelcome advances, called her alone to his cabin, and began sending her improper messages.
