Anirudh Ravichander was born on October 16, 1990, in Madras, Tamil Nadu. He is the son of renowned actor Ravi Raghavendra and classical dancer Smt. Lakshmi Ravichander. His father is the brother-in-law of superstar Rajinikanth and Smt. Latha Rajinikanth.
Anirudh is the cousin of actor Dhanush and the nephew of superstar Rajinikanth. He also has one sister, Vaishnavi Ravichander.

Anirudh Ravichander went to the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, K.K. Nagar, Chennai. Later, he went to Loyola College, Chennai, and Southtech Media Institute of Audio Technology, Chennai. He earned himself a B.Com. degree and a course in Sound Engineering.
He has always had a strong interest in music and began composing when he was just ten years old. He joined the musical ensemble Zinx because he liked music. After receiving his diploma from Loyola University, Anirudh studied piano and other instruments at Trinity College in England.
