Anil Arora, the father of Bollywood actor Malaika Arora committed suicide on Wednesday in Mumbai’s Bandra neighbourhood by jumping off a building’s terrace, according to police. The scene is guarded by elite police, and as of now, no suicide note has been discovered. The potential causes of the suicide have not yet been ascertained by the authorities.

Officials said that the actor was not home when her father made the drastic move. After learning about the suicide, Malaika’s family members and her ex-husband Arbaaz Khan came to her home to express their condolences. When Arora’s parents divorced, she was just eleven years old. Their mother, age 71 Joyce Polycarp, reared her and her younger sister, Amrita Arora, who was six years old at the time.
Anil Arora, a Hindu Punjabi from the Indian border town of Fazilka, Punjab, was born on February 22 and served in the Indian Merchant Navy and was a retired officer. Age 71 Joyce Polycarp, Malaika’s mother, is a Malayali Christian. Anil is survived by his wife and two daughters. While Anil’s DOB isn’t known, he is believed to be aged between 70-75 as he was born in the 1950s.
Anil Arora and Joyce Polycarp reportedly got married in the 1970s and on October 23, 1973, when they welcomed their first child, a baby girl, whom they named Malaika. On January 31, 1981, they were blessed with a baby girl, Amrita.
Anil was born in a small village in Punjab named Fazilka. A Punjabi by ethnicity moved out of the town in his 20s. He worked in the Merchant Navy for the next several years. While his net worth isn’t known, Malaika has a net worth of Rs.99 crore.
When Malaika was eleven years old, her parents, Anil and Joyce, divorced, and her sister, Amrita Arora, was six at that time. Following the divorce, the Arora sisters relocated from Thane to Chembur, where their mother reared them. Malaika had previously told Filmfare that she was able to see her mother from a fresh perspective as a result of her parents’ divorce.

“I learned a rock-steady work ethic and the value of getting up each morning to do whatever it takes to become fiercely independent. Those early lessons are the cornerstones of my life and professional journey. I am still fiercely independent; I value my freedom and live life on my terms,” she added.
While the reason behind the suicide is yet to be known, Malaika’s father has been taken to a hospital for post-mortem examination after he jumped at 9am.
