According to The Tribuna de la Bahia, a guy who resembles former UFC and PRIDE fighter Phil Baroni was detained in the Mexican town of San Francisco, Nayarit, in the Bahia de Banderas region, on suspicion of murder.
It seems that Baroni had lately lived in the region based on posts on his social media profiles. The suspect’s residence with his girlfriend was the Jardin San Pancho Hotel, where he was apprehended.

What happened with Phil Baroni?
Even though Phil Baroni has been mentioned as the suspect in other publications, The Tribuna de la Bahia‘s first story merely labelled the man as “Phillips,” a 46-year-old resident of New York. Strong similarities between the suspect in the scene photos and Baroni can be seen, including a recognisable tattoo on the suspect’s left ring finger.
The suspect has since been named “Phill Baroni” in an update from the publication. However, the only source of identification in that article is “national and international sports media.” Local authorities have been contacted by Bloody Elbow, but as of the time of publication, no response had been received.
State officials from Nayarit, Mexico have subsequently confirmed and named the suspect as former MMA fighter Phil Baroni, according to The Associated Press. According to reports, the case’s first hearing is scheduled for Monday.
Phil Baroni is married to Angela Baroni. At Lake in Las Vegas, Nevada, the pair wed on October 21st, 2008, and have been married ever since.
Whether they are still married or have previously divorced is unknown because Baroni does his best to keep his wife out of the spotlight. While her age isn’t known, she is said to be aged between 40-45 years.
