The former MLB star pleaded guilty for lying to federal agents during their investigations on an illegal gambling network. The 31-year-old now faces a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Yasiel Puig was previously dating Nicole Chaves, who gave birth to their first child, Diego Alejandro back in December 2013. But the couple split and ever since 2014, he has been dating Andrea De La Torre.

Yasiel Puig Facing 5-Year Prison Sentence
Yasiel Puig will reportedly plead guilty to one count of making false statements during a court hearing in late November. Federal prosecutors revealed the plea arrangement involving Yasiel Puig on Monday afternoon.
According to the FBI, the former Dodgers outfielder faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison for his offence. The former MLB player played in the league for seven seasons before moving on to play baseball in South Korea.
However, authorities accused Puig of making bets through an illicit gambling enterprise in the beginning of May back in 2019. Authorities further claimed that Puig lost $282,900 through gaming in a span of just a few short weeks.
Following his huge losses, Puig he wrote two different checks totaling $100K to the owners of the illegal gambling operation in order to settle his debts and continue on gambling. Authorities also revealed that Puig placed 899 more wagers on the websites between July-September 2019, after receiving the funds.
The former MLB superstar placed bets on basketball, football, and tennis matches. When officials questioned Puig about his gambling frauds, he fervently lied about his actions, which led to the federal accusation.
Yasiel Puig Baseball Career And Achievements
Yasiel Puig won a bronze medal in the 2008 Junior Baseball Championship even before he started his professional career. Puig represented Cuban national team during the 2011 World Port Tournament.
He also received the All-Stars Award back in 2014. Puig hit a total of .327 for the Quakes during throughout the 14 games he played for the team. According to various sources, Puig has an estimated net worth of $29 million.
Throughout his MLB baseball career, Puig has played for the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Guardians, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He last played in the MLB back in the 2019 campaign for both the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Guardians.
Just a few months back in August 2022, Puig expressed his desire to return to the MLB after hsi short stint in the KBO League.
