On Monday, cricketer Hanuma Vihari announced his resignation from the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Team. Citing pressure from the association, Vihari said he was forced to resign because of an incident in which he scolded a player, who turned out to be the son of a local politician named Prudhvi Raj.

The incident took place during the Ranji Trophy 2023/24. In a lengthy message, Vihari conveyed his shock and stated that the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association had given the player in question preferential treatment. Although Vihari did not mention Prudhvi Raj by name, his words made him speak out about the issue.
“I was the captain in the first game against Bengal, during that game I shouted on the 17th player and he complained to his dad(who is a politician), his dad in return asked the Association to take action against me. Although, we chased 410 against last year’s finalists Bengal I was asked to resign from captaincy without any fault of mine,” Vihari wrote on Instagram.

In response, Prudhvi Raj addressed the issue on his Instagram story, refuting any falsehoods in the charges. He strongly condemned any personal jabs and foul language, emphasizing the value of self-respect and the purity of the game.
“I am that guy you are searching in that comment box. Whatever you guys heard is absolute false, no one is higher than the game and my self-respect is much bigger than anything. Personal attacks and vulgar language is unacceptable in any platform. Everyone in the team knows what has happened that day. Play this sympathy games, however you want,” Prudhviraj wrote on Instagram.
Prudhvi asserted that everyone on the team was aware of the incident, and he challenged the portrayal of events by referring to Vihari as a “so-called champion.” Since then, the matter has become the talk of the town, with many trying to learn more about him.
